I developed my Indian ink and painted drawings to produce this satirical, acerbic storyboard illustration series, including some socio-political illustrations to highlight and document the current political climate.
For the semi-autobiographical illustrations, the ideas behind my work have stemmed from my own life and experiences. I also document satirical-comic theatrical performances, which began as a direct result of documenting Impropriety’s thirty-three-and-a-half-hour Improvathon in 2012, 2013 and 2017.
My focus and inspiration comes from everyday objects and things that often go unnoticed – and I enjoy capturing the [sometimes dark] humour in a situation. With all of my work, I have a tendency towards, the ‘kitchen-sink’ school of art [a term coined to describe painters who depict social realist–type scenes of domestic life].
In 2024, I was commissioned by Collective Encounters to illustrate the poetry created as part of ‘Voices On The Streets’ (a Liverpool city centre sound journey) – click here to find out more. I was also commissioned to illustrate a series of words that came up during workshops. [see galleries of images below].
In 2023, I was commissioned to produce a series of 10 medical drawings [also see gallery below].
In 2020 I sold an editorial drawing to Richard Hall from The Independent that illustrated one of his news stories – click here to see the artwork.
