I am a curator of the Visual Arts Programme for Threshold Festival. I have assisted with the organisation, curation and marketing of visual arts at Threshold since the festival was founded in 2011. In September 2013, I became an established member of the core Threshold team with the title Visual Arts Curator after being invited by the directors of the company Kaya, Chris and Andy.
I curated a well-received exhibition with Liverpool Mental Health Consortium for Liverpool Mental Health Festival at Baltic Creative in 2015, where almost twenty artists were given the opportunity to showcase their work. I have continued working with the Consortium ever since and last year I was asked to have a more active role, helping the team to coordinate the whole exhibition programme.
I organised exhibitions with HeadSpace@EggSpace from 2005 – 2015. The programme spans over one hundred exhibitions in total. I worked with hundreds of artists in the process.
I have been managing and organising projects for over ten years. As part of my work, I have met, worked with and liaised with several hundred local, national and international artists. I began coordinating exhibitions in 2001 across various locations, and have organised numerous exhibitions since, including: My first joint exhibition with two other artists in Viterbo, Italy; and several exhibitions in various venues in Cardiff.
Organising exhibitions entails the following: Installing and promoting exhibitions; finding, encouraging and recruiting new artists for shows; designing/updating promotional material and websites; social media and marketing; organising opening nights and private views; and sales/dealing with customers.
