Acapella Voices Festival: Joni Mitchell Show

jazamin sinclair / drawing, liverpool, music, performance / / 0 Comments

Last weekend, I am pleased to to say that along with other Sense Of Sound singers, I took part in the Acapella Voices Festival Joni Mitchell Show at The Blackie. It was truly an amazing thing to be a part of!

It was fantastic to sing with Connie Lush during ‘Both Sides Now’ and to see some of Barbieshop perform, whose version of ‘Mr Sandman’ I love! I found that the way the whole show was so stripped back & raw made me feel really connected to it.

But don’t just take my word for it, find out more by reading this fab review of the show, written by Andrea McGuire!

Prior to the show, I was asked to create a drawing of Joni Mitchell to be used as part of the projection and audiovisual design that was displayed during the performance and produced by Joe Stathers-Tracey.

Here is an image of the drawing – I hope you enjoy it!

33 and a 1/2 paintings created in 33 and a 1/2 hours #Improvathon2012

As mentioned in my previous post I was involved in a thirty-three and a half hour Improvathon created and performed by Impropriety at The Kazimer.  Here are images of the individual paintings that I produced during that time.

As you can see, due to the general sleep deprivation of the event and the short amount of time I had to do what I was doing, the numbers and names of the paintings became slightly mixed up. They are, however, in the order that they were created…

I will keep this brief, as I am still recovering from the sleep depraved, annual, thirty-three and a half hour Improvathon created and performed by Impropriety at The Kazimer. There were some absolutely incredible, energetic and completely improvised performances, that did not relent, from 1pm on Saturday until 10:32pm on Sunday night.

While the performances took place, I sat in a corner and I painted. And painted. And painted. And painted some more. During the time I (just) managed to complete thirty-three and a half small paintings.

And here they are all lined up like little ducks in a row…
